# Schweinsteiger sues Chinese company over Nazi doll lookalike

German powerhouse midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is suing a Chinese toy manufacturer over one of their products.

DiD Corp of Hong Kong have produced a Nazi doll, which comes complete with a Swastika in full traditional uniform – and named it “Bastian”.

With Schweinsteiger’s first name being a popular one in Germany, he may have let that slide as a pure coincidence – but it doesn’t end there. As well as sharing a name with the World Cup-winning midfielder, the doll actually looks like the Germany captain!

The company claim that the resemblance is completely coincidental, according to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3284326/German-Manchester-United-star-Bastian-Schweinsteiger-takes-legal-action-toymaker-releases-Nazi-soldiers-resembling-named-Bastian.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490) – but that’s somewhat hard to believe. It can be expected that Schweinsteiger wins the case given the circumstances.

Patrick Chan, speaking on behalf of the company, said that the toy is modelled on a “typical German” – but it’s almost impossible to argue that the doll looks exactly like Schweinsteiger himself. The doll was to be sold for £65 in Europe but with this case set to go ahead, that is now unlikely.
