A current Manchester United player has anonymously spoken out about his feelings towards Dutch manager Louis van Gaal.
The following statement:
“I’m half the player I can be under Van Gaal”
– was made to Jason Burt, the Deputy Football Correspondent at the Daily Telegraph (story via BBC 5 live).
This comes after a disappointing recent run for the Red Devils, who have endured four goalless draws in their last seven games. It is unlikely that the player is a defender – as they all seem to be thriving under Louis van Gaal, and the United defence is the best in the Premier League so far this season.
David de Gea’s recent statements that he is very happy at the club mean it is not likely to be the Spanish international who has confessed his feelings to Burt, either.
Jason Burt explained the player’s statement, saying that the man in question feels that the current system at United, which has been bemoaned by many fans and journalists alike, is not “fair on him or the fans”.
It is difficult to say which players the statement could have come from, but the truth will out eventually, as it so often does.
