Manchester United have been slated by fans and pundits alike recently, for playing ‘boring’ possession football and not scoring all too many goals. It’s put them in a tricky situation in their Champions League group and has seen them spurn the chance to start the festive period as league leaders – but it’s not all doom and gloom for the Red Devils though, as more than one player has scored his first goal for the club.
Jesse Lingard grabbed his first for the senior side in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, before Schweinsteiger nodded his maiden goal in at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
So of the six goals Louis van Gaal’s men put away in November, which is the best? Here’s our top three.
3) Rooney vs CSKA Moscow (FT 1-0)
Rooney has recieved by quite some distance the most criticism of any United player this season – his league record is worse than what anyone would expect from the most prolific goalscorer the English national team has had; but he’s done alright in the Champions League this season.
This gets in at number three for the quality of the delivery from Jesse Lingard and the timing of the run from Rooney – in a more fruitful month, the top three probably wouldn’t include a goal like this, but we have to make do with what the boys in red have given us.

2) Memphis vs Watford (FT 1-2)
With Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial both ruled out of this game at Vicarage Road through injury, Memphis was given the tricky task of starting alone up front against a resolute Watford defence.
He responded to this decision by Louis van Gaal by scoring what turned out to be a vital goal, cushioning a volley perfectly whilst off the ground – something which is definitely more difficult than it looks at first glance. Nice work, Memphis.

1) Lingard vs West Bromwich Albion (FT 2-0)
He’s forced his way into the first team and he’s absolutely thriving – Lingard’s performances in November were a real statement to the likes of Ashley Young and Memphis Depay that they need to work harder. His first goal in United colours wins goal of the month because it’s the only finish of absolutely outstanding quality – and came at a time in the game when United were really struggling to break their opponents down, which we’ve seen a lot of lately. Take a bow, Jesse.
