# United keeping tabs on unhappy Chelsea youngster

Manchester United are continuing to monitor the availability of Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda, who is reportedly unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/12029231/Chelsea-under-pressure-as-highly-rated-youngster-Charly-Musonda-weighs-up-his-future.html) reports that the Belgian under-21 international is concerned that there is no way for him to break into the Blues’ first-team squad, and fears that his progression is being stunted by not playing regular first-team football.

Musonda, who signed a new four-year contract in March, had hoped to break into the squad after being involved in Chelsea’s post-season tour of Thailand and Australia and even turned down the chance to join Eredivisie side Vitesse on loan during the summer.

But the 19-year-old has remained with the Blues’ Under-21 side and is becoming increasingly disillusioned at Stamford Bridge, and that could allow United to swoop in and capture the services of the highly-rated Belgian.

However, the midfielder is also being courted by the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, as well as a host of big European clubs, and the Blues face the prospect of keeping Musonda at the club against his own will or selling him to the highest bidder.

Musonda’s father, also called Charly, is adamant that his son should leave Chelsea, stating:

> *He must absolutely leave Chelsea and, since January, Monaco have been trying to sign him. Monaco are not alone but they truly want him.*
>
> *Chelsea don’t want him to go back to Belgium. They want Charly to play in a good team in a big league. He must play for a first team. He progresses every day, but he must develop further.*

Musonda is a versatile midfielder, able to play in a deeper holding role or further forward as a number ten. The son of a former Anderlecht midfielder and Zambian international, he has been rated higher than Eden Hazard or Kevin De Bruyne at the same age and would be a potential coup for the Reds if he does want away from Stamford Bridge.
