# Darmian out for several weeks

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has [confirmed](https://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2016/Feb/matteo-darmian-suffers-dislocated-shoulder.aspx) that Matteo Darmian will be on the sidelines for several weeks after dislocating his shoulder in the defeat against Sunderland.

The Italian right-back was taken off in the 36th minute after colliding with Wahbi Khazri on the edge of the Sunderland box. Darmian landed awkwardly and was in some discomfort as he was taken off.

He received treatment and left the Stadium of Light with his arm in a sling, and van Gaal has now confirmed that Darmian will be out of action for several weeks.

In his post-match press conference, the United manager also praised Donald Love on his Manchester United debut while confirming Darmian’s injury:

> *It is unbelievable. It is a dislocation so he will be out for several weeks. We do not have many more full-backs, not even in the \[youth\] system. Donald Love has played today at right-back and he did it well.*

Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Guillermo Varela and Phil Jones, who have all played full-back at one point or another this season, are all out with various injuries, leaving Love and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson as the only fit senior full-backs at the moment.

Daley Blind and Paddy McNair are also able to play at full-back if needed.
