# Team News – Midtjylland vs Man United

Louis van Gaal has taken an 18-man squad to Denmark for the first leg of their Europa League tie against Midtjylland – and there are some surprising omissions.

Wayne Rooney is the major name missing from the side that flew to Denmark this morning, and the United manager is expected to confirm why his captain is missing from the squad at his pre-match press conference later this evening.

Marouane Fellaini, who was missing from the side that lost to Sunderland on Saturday, also failed to make the flight, while Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who seems to have cemented his place in the side at left-back, also misses out.

Van Gaal has certainly placed his faith in youth for this tie – with a couple of youngsters from the Under-21 squad making the trip to Denmark. Donald Love is included after making his debut against Sunderland while James Weir also travels after being on the bench against the Black Cats.

Will Keane also makes the side after a cameo appearance at the weekend, while Joe Riley and Regan Poole are in line for senior Manchester United debuts after some good form at Under-21 level.
