# Martial: LVG’s yelling makes me laugh

Anthony Martial has revealed that Louis van Gaal yells at him in training- but that only makes him laugh, per [ESPN](https://www.espnfc.com/manchester-united/story/2837968/anthony-martial-louis-van-gaal-makes-me-laugh).

Martial could turn out to bee Van Gaal’s final signing for the Reds, having signed on last summer’s transfer deadline day from French outfit Monaco.

The 20 year-old has shone for United ever since, but has revealed his Dutch manager’s rather unconventional motivational techniques:

> He (Van Gaal) yells at me. It makes me laugh because I know it’s for my own good.

Whilst some might question Van Gaal for shouting at his young striker, it seems to be an effective strategy with Martial, who said his former Monaco boss, Leonardo Jardim, worked in a similar fashion:

> He (Jardim) was very hard with me – that’s what I needed.

Martial clearly hasn’t been affected by either Van Gaal’s or Jardim’s methods, with the Frenchman having enjoyed a fine debut season in England so far.

The French forward has scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Reds this term, a tally which is only bettered by Wayne Rooney, who has netted 14 times.

Martial has also carried his fine form into the international break, setting up Blaise Matuidi’s goal in France’s 3-2 win over the Netherlands on Friday. That means the young attacker has now assisted four of his national side’s last eight goals.
