# United battle Everton for Dutch striker

Manchester United could battle Everton and Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen, according to [De Telegraaf](https://www.telegraaf.nl/telesport/voetbal/az/25528693/__PSG_en_United_op_tribune_bij_AZ-PSV__.html#voetbal/227/fixtures/).

The Dutch paper reports that scouts from all three teams were sent to monitor Janssen on Saturday, as AZ fell to a 4-2 defeat against PSV Eindhoven in Eredivisie action.

The 21-year-old has certainly had a breakthrough year for AZ, and is currently top scorer in the Eredivisie, having scored 20 goals in 29 appearances in league action.

A total of scoring 25 goals and six assists in 44 games in all competitions is impressive for a player in his first season in the Eredivisie and his eye for goal has drawn comparisons to former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He also recently made his international debut for the Netherlands and scored on his first start for the Oranje, a penalty against England at Wembley a week ago.

Janssen is certainly one to watch and United do need some firepower up front, but it is unlikely that the Reds will want to splash the cash on a striker that has only had one good season at a decent level of football.

United will also be wary of buying once again from the Eredivisie this summer, given that Memphis Depay, who signed from PSV last summer, hasn’t set the world alight in his first season in England.
