# United eyeing Southampton keeper Forster

According to Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/mane-forster-agenda-manchester-united-20160404.html), Manchester United are interested in a summer move for Southampton keeper Fraser Forster.

However, any move for the 28-year-old England international would have to depend on the future of United’s current number one, David de Gea. The Spaniard has still been linked with a move to Real Madrid, even though the move collapsed on transfer deadline day last summer.

And with De Gea’s future at the club still uncertain, United are drawing up a shortlist of goalkeeper targets – Forster joins Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Stoke keeper Jack Butland as the frontrunners on the list.

Forster, who has five caps for England, only returned from a nine-month layoff with a broken kneecap in January but has been in sensational form for the Saints. His most recent game showcased his abilities, as he made a string of great saves to stop a thrashing from Premier League leaders Leicester on Saturday.

The former Newcastle and Celtic goalkeeper has also been targeted by Chelsea should Thibault Courtois exit Stamford Bridge in the summer, so the Reds will have competition should they proceed with a move.
