# Borthwick-Jackson signs new United contract

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has reportedly agreed a new four-year contract with Manchester United, according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-united-starlet-cameron-borthwick-7967860).

The 19-year-old defender has had a breakthrough season at Old Trafford, making his first-team debut for Louis van Gaal’s side in November against West Brom and winning the Under-21s Player of the Year earlier this month, having played a pivotal role in them retaining the Under-21 Premier League title.

When picking up the award at United’s annual awards evening, he said:

> *It’s just a huge honour for me, winning this award. It’s unbelievable, it’s what dreams are made of. It’s what you dream of as a little boy, winning an award with Manchester United.*
>
> *All the way through, this is what I’ve been dreaming of doing and I’ve managed to come up through every age group and managed to make my way into the first team. As I say it’s just a dream for me.*

In total, Borthwick-Jackson has made 19 appearances for United this season and has not looked out of place in the first-team, deputising ably for the injured Luke Shaw at left-back and impressing United fans with his crossing ability.

And a new contract is just reward for a fine season at the Theatre of Dreams and Borthwick-Jackson will be looking kick on next season, whether it’s under the management of Louis van Gaal or another man at the United helm.
