# Will Zlatan Come To The Theatre of Dreams?

He came. He saw. He conquered.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic walks away from Paris a winner. He won ten trophies during his time in the French capital, including four league titles, and is now the target of a host of clubs who want to offer him a fresh challenge.

Manchester United are one of those clubs. Boasting a 75,000 capacity stadium filled with history and heart, it is the kind of place Zlatan adores.

United are a team in a downward spiral of late. Missing out on Champions League qualification has hit their interests hard, and the opportunity to sign Ibrahimovic may have just gotten a little more difficult because of this.

Pundits and former United players alike have united in their desire to see the Swede at Old Trafford, with [Graeme Souness insisting](https://metro.co.uk/2016/05/17/graeme-souness-manchester-united-must-do-everything-to-seal-zlatan-ibrahimovic-transfer-5886919/) United ‘need’ him. Although Souness may have a point, Louis van Gaal has, so far, remained tight-lipped on the subject.

Would he be a good match for the Reds? Of course! Right now, United are desperately short of attacking options, with injuries to Wayne Rooney hampering their goalscoring outlet while Anthony Martial being consistently deployed on the left wing. United were the lowest goalscorers in the top half of the table this season, and 11th overall, scoring 46 where Manchester City found the net 71 times. Even Sunderland found the net more often than the Reds, though having played a game more.

Zlatan is a wonderfully independent striker for his part. Strong, fast, aerially intimidating, he is the striker United need, where he is not necessarily reliant on support from wide, but having the support there is a luxury. The Reds play the kind of game Zlatan has been used to at PSG, where support from wide was his help, but he was more than capable of playing in an isolated role.

What’s more, United will have no problem in dealing with his astronomical wages, having happily paid out for players like Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria’s similarly outrageous demands for bank busting payslips.

The big question is will he come? He has conquered Spain, Italy Holland and France, but never cut his teeth in England. Logic dictates he would end up here, but the lure of America is strong, and with players in the twilights of their careers making the transition across the Atlantic – Steven Gerrard, Kaka, to name a few – Zlatan may just find the desire to kick is Stateside. If that is the case, United will rue yet another missed opportunity that is fast becoming a habit in the transfer window.
