# Daley Blind and Juan Mata to be sold this summer

Manchester United duo Daley Blind and Juan Mata will be sold this summer, according to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10299937/daley-blind-and-juan-mata-set-for-manchester-united-exit-this-summer-sky-sources).

The pair both joined United in 2014, with Mata signing in the January transfer window under David Moyes, before the Scot’s successor Louis van Gaal signed Blind in his first transfer window as manager.

However, as the club sacked Van Gaal last week and swiftly announced Jose Mourinho as his replacement, the new manager has already identified a number of transfer targets of his own.

Mourinho has apparently cited the apparent physical vulnerabilities of both players as the reason for his willingness to allow them to leave for acceptable amounts.

Mata, who was sold to United by the Portuguese boss when the two were together at Chelsea, is deemed to lack pace and work ethic by the new manage,r as well as being unsuited to his tactics.

Unfortunately for Mata, the boss with whom he will soon be reunited is understood not to have changed his view of him as a player.

Similarly, Blind is said not to match the profile of Mourinho’s favoured kind of central defender. The Dutchman adapted well to playing as a centre-back this season but his new manager has issues with the player’s height and apparent lack of strength and pace.

Mata and Blind were regulars in the United side this season and, in that sense, there would surely be some disappointment amongst fans if the pair do depart the club.

However, Mourinho is expecting to be given the opportunity to sign players to directly replace the duo as he starts the building process of what he believes can be a Premier League winning side in the near future.
