# United agree personal terms with Pogba

Manchester United have taken a huge step towards signing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba by agreeing personal terms with the Frenchman, according to [the Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3699237/Manchester-United-agree-fee-Paul-Pogba-Juventus-star-prepares-return-Old-Trafford.html).

The 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract and will be paid £220,000 a week after tax if his move from the Bianconeri goes through.

It is understood that Juventus rejected United’s opening offer of £84 million yesterday and the Reds are expected to up that figure in the next couple of days, with Pogba having stated his desire to leave Turin, according to the front pages of numerous Italian papers:

The Serie A champions are desperate not to lose their star man but have already prepared for the Frenchman’s departure with the signing of Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic.

United manager José Mourinho had been confident of securing Pogba’s return to Old Trafford, having spoken of four priority transfer targets in his initial press conference. With moves for Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan already completed, the 23-year-old’s signature will complete the transfer jigsaw if the two clubs can agree a transfer fee.

Pogba, who is currently on holiday as he recovers from his Euro 2016 campaign with France, left United in acrimonious circumstances in 2009, after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson over a lack of first-team football. Wages were also an issue, with Ferguson also maintain a tetchy relationship with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola.

The summer-long saga looks set to end with Pogba’s return to the Theatre of Dreams and his arrival will no doubt please United fans, who have seen him develop into one of football’s top midfielders during his time away from Manchester United.
