# West Ham interested in Borthwick-Jackson loan

West Ham are interested in taking Manchester United left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan, according to the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3716471/West-Ham-interested-loaning-Cameron-Borthwick-Jackson-Manchester-United-cover-Aaron-Cresswell.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490).

With the Hammers’ first-choice left-back Aaron Cresswell out for up to four months with a knee ligament injury, manager Slaven Bilic is hoping to bring in a full-back to cover for his absence and it looks like Borthwick-Jackson may be one of the first targets on his list.

The 19-year-old broke into the United first-team during the latter half of last season, covering ably in the absence of Luke Shaw, making 14 appearances in all competitions as the Reds won the FA Cup and finished just outside the Champions League places in fifth.

He also performed well at reserve level, winning the club’s Under-21 Player of the Year and his performances throughout the season were rewarded with a new four-year contract in May.

However, with Shaw’s recovery from a broken leg complete and the likes of Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind all able to play at left-back if needed, José Mourinho has decided that Borthwick-Jackson will be surplus to requirements this season and will allow him to go out on loan this season.

The England under-19 international has not appeared in any of United’s pre-season games so far and was not taken on United’s tour of China earlier this month, having suffered a thigh injury in the lead-up.
