Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United from Juventus has finally been confirmed, with the £89 million transfer fee making him the most expensive footballer in the world, surpassing Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.
The midfielder’s previous stint with the Reds ended with acrimonious circumstances, with the 23-year-old refusing to sign a new contract at Old Trafford due to a lack of first-team chances, moving to Italy for a compensation fee of just £800,000.
When he finally takes to the pitch in a United shirt once again, he will do so in the number six shirt, which has not been used since the 2014-15 season, when former defender Jonny Evans occupied the number.
