# Four things we learned: Bournemouth 1- 3 Man United

Manchester United got their new season underway in good fashion with a satisfying 3-1 win over Bournemouth, thanks to goals from Juan Mata, Rooney and debutant Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The first half started in slow fashion as both teams failed to really get a grip of the game in their first game back. It was Mata to get the scoring underway after he capitalised on a poor Simon Francis backpass to put United ahead five minutes before the end of the half.

The second half was much more lively as United better controlled proceedings. Rooney had a great opportunity after an athletic Ibrahimovic flick put him through on goal and despite a good show of strength his effort was blocked by Artur Boruc. The captain didn’t have to wait long for his goal as after a scuffed Martial volley fell to Rooney who put it away with a tidy header.

It was inevitable Ibrahimovic was going to have a say in proceedings and what a say it was. He picked the ball up from Martial around 25 yards from goal and screwed in a low drive past Artur Boruc to announce himself to the Premier League and wrap up the game for United.

Bournemouth managed to get a goal back through Adam Smith who scored a terrific goal after he was slipped through by Grabban to give the Cherries a consolation.
