# Carrick coaching under-14s as he strives for coaching badges

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has taken his first steps towards management.

The 35-year-old is currently completing his UEFA ‘A’ License for coaching and has been furthering his development by working with the Red Devils’ under-14 side, according to [Squawka](https://www.squawka.com/news/michael-carrick-working-with-man-utds-u14s-as-he-completes-coaching-badges/826792?).

The Englishman is still part of United’s first-team squad and has made six appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side so far in 2016-17 – but is also planning for the future by coaching within United’s academy.

Speaking about his current efforts, Carrick said:

“The badges are going alright actually, I’m not far from finishing my ‘A’ license now. I’ve been doing a lot of work with the U14s and it’s something I really enjoy,”

Carrick who joined United from Spurs in the summer of 2006, has won five Premier League titles, one Champions League, one FA Cup and one League Cup, amongst others, with the Red Devils.

Having made over 400 appearances for the Old Trafford club, he is one of the most experienced players in the league right now and such experience can only be helpful when going into coaching.
