# West Ham consider loan move for Fellaini

West Ham are reportedly interested in taking Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini on loan in January, according to the [London Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-consider-loan-moves-for-manchester-united-s-marouane-fellaini-and-chelsea-goalkeeper-asmir-a3413466.html).

The relegation-threatened London club have struggled at both ends of the pitch this season and Slaven Bilic feels that the big Belgian midfielder could be an asset both defensively and offensively in the second half of the season.

Fellaini has made 14 appearances in all competition for United this season, but has never looked the most convincing of players in a red shirt ever since joining United in a deadline day move from Everton for £27.5 million.

José Mourinho has sparsely used him in the past few weeks and Fellaini’s performance against his former club on Sunday would not have endeared him to his manager, giving away a clumsy penalty just a couple of minutes after coming on as United were held to a 1-1 draw.

At 29, Fellaini is approaching the prime of his career and it would be no surprise if the Belgian international felt that he needed first-team football rather than sitting on the bench every week, so a loan move would definitely suit both parties here.
