# United receive UEFA payments from Euro 2016

UEFA have today [confirmed](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/news/newsid=2438392.html) that they will be paying out a total of €150 million to 641 clubs across the world as compensation for releasing their players to participate at Euro 2016 as well as its qualifiers.

As a result, Manchester United have [received](https://www.uefa.org/MultimediaFiles/Download/EuroExperience/uefaorg/Clubs/02/43/83/85/2438385_DOWNLOAD.pdf) close to €3 million for their players’ involvement in the competition – the fourth highest payment out of all clubs, behind Juventus, Liverpool and Tottenham.

United had ten players present at the competition in France last summer, with Anthony Martial and now ex-Red Morgan Schneiderlin part of the French squad that lost to Portugal in the final at the Stade de France in July.

Also present at the latter stages of the tournament was Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was captain as Germany advanced all the way to the semi-finals before losing to hosts France. David de Gea was also a regular for Spain throughout the tournament as they lost to Italy in the round of 16.

Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford were all part of the England side that crashed out to Iceland in the round of 16, while Matteo Darmian and Marouane Fellaini all exited at the quarter-finals with Italy and Belgium respectively.

Finally, another ex-Red in Paddy McNair was part of the Northern Ireland side who performed admirably in France.

Current United men Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also in action at Euro 2016 with France and Sweden respectively, but as they both were not United players at the time of the tournament kicking off, the club have not been compensated for their involvement.
