United identify Schmeichel as David de Gea replacement
Manchester United would like to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the summer if David de Gea leaves the club.
According to the Mirror, United have their eyes on Schmeichel with rumours regarding de Gea’s future still up in the air.
Real Madrid are likely to re-ignite their interest in the shot-stopper during the summer as they seek a replacement for Keylor Navas.
Zinedine Zidane’s have been linked with moves for both de Gea and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.
De Gea has come close to moving to the Spanish capital previously, only for a move to fall through at the final stages.
A move to Old Trafford would be a historic one for Schmeichel, as his dad Peter Schmeichel enjoyed a glittering career with the club.
During his eight years with the club he won five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup and the famous Champions League win over Bayern Munich, among his greatest moments.
