# Chelsea sanction Matic deal to Manchester United

Chelsea have sanctioned a deal to take Nemanja Matic to Manchester United this summer.

According to [The Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4719222/Roman-Abramovich-clears-Man-United-Nemanja-Matic.html), Chelsea owner Roman Abrahmovic will allow Matic to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have had a bid in the region of £35m rejected but the report claims that they are closing in on a deal.

Jose Mourinho is eager to add a defensive midfielder to his ranks this summer and it appears as though that man could be Matic.

Chelsea signed Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco this month, allowing them to sanction a move for Matic.

United are keen on completing a deal for Matic after they were priced out of Tottenham’s Eric Dier.

The report claims that United will have to pay £50m to sign Matic, with a deal looking close to completion.

The Serbian international has not travelled with Chelsea to their pre-season tour so he can focus on securing a transfer.
