United preparing club-record bid for Thomas Lemar
Manchester United will rival Arsenal for AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar in January as the Red Devils prepare a club-record bid for the player.
The Mirror reports that Manchester United are interested in the Monaco man, who was linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal throughout the summer.
Lemar’s agent is said to be aware of United’s interest after Jose Mourinho failed to land Ivan Perisic during the transfer window.
Lemar was heavily linked with Liverpool, with the player thought to be keen on a move to Anfield, instead of the Emirates.
Arsenal failed with a huge £92 million on transfer deadline day. The Gunners had lined the Frenchman up as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
However, the Chilean remained at the club and Lemar himself was not interested in the move due to the club’s lack of Champions League football.
Arsenal will be keen to land the player in January with Manchester City likely to rekindle their interest in Sanchez.
