# Nemanja Matic says his best is yet to come

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has hit the ground running at Old Trafford and is already somewhat of a fan favourite, but the big Serbian himself insists that he isn’t playing at his absolute best yet and has promised that there is more to come from him in a red shirt.

Speaking to the Independent, the ex-Chelsea man said:

> I didn’t have pre-season

> I trained alone. I can feel it in some parts of the game! My body is not ready yet and I have some difficulty, of course, but I try to hide that and to play simple. I will be better.

Matic has already played 10 games for United this season, already a quarter of how many he played for Chelsea as he helped them to the league title during the last campaign.

The Serbian is yet to hit top gear by his own admission but is staying grounded, especially when it comes to United’s great results so far this season:

> We know what we have to do because we are Manchester United and we are focused just on the next game. Always the next game is the most important, so game by game we have to collect points and next May we will see. It’s a long way to go

United are separated from Premier League leaders Manchester City by just one goal and are comfortably atop Champions League Group A, as well as having progressed in the League Cup.

Matic commented on this, saying:

> As you know, we’ve won almost every game, we only drew at Stoke – in the Premier League it is very hard to do this

> This can only be done by big teams, so we showed that we are a big team and we have to continue like this

United’s next game comes against Liverpool at Anfield after the international break — it will certainly be Matic’s biggest game yet in a United shirt.
