Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is furious with Belgium manager Roberto Martinez after the striker was brought on towards the end of their worthless final World Cup qualifier against Cyprus, according to a report on the Independent.
The Portuguese boss already had concerns over the fitness of his star striker but the Belgian medics declared the forward fit to play a part in the match.
Lukaku came on and scored in the 4-0 win, but Mourinho is livid that Martinez risked his striker only four days before the huge clash against Liverpool in the Premier League.
The United manager has already been frustrated by Martinez after Marouane Fellaini picked up an injury for Belgium which is going to keep him sidelined for at least a few weeks.
Lukaku luckily emerged from the Cyprus game unscathed and Mourinho will hope that he is 100% fit to face arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday, in what promises to be an entertaining game.
Lukaku has been in incredible form since signing for Manchester United in the summer and has seven Premier League goals to his name already.
The striker has also made a fast start to his UEFA Champions League career after netting three times in two appearances.
