Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has been discussing why he turned down Manchester United to stay with the Serie A giants.
As quoted by Goal, the Croatian international discussed the summer transfer window’s ongoings and revealed that it was Luciano Spalletti, Inter’s boss, who persuaded him to stay at the club.
Spalletti told us that every player is important and we got proof of that in the win, as even those who haven’t had as much space made their mark.
Spalletti was extremely important in convincing me to stay.
Inter have been superb this season under Spalletti and look to be back to their best. Perisic has played a big part in their meteoric rise, with Inter now sat at the very top of Serie A, leading Napoli by one point.
Perisic netted a hat-trick in Inter’s 5-0 win over Chievo on Sunday, with his stock only likely to have increased following some excellent displays this season.
United made several approaches to secure the former Wolfsburg player but saw their efforts rebuffed. Inter were determined to retain Perisic’s services and now appear to be reaping the rewards.
The Red Devils are sure to be watching Perisic closely, with his performance levels having massively increased already this season.
