Lionel Messi has spoken out and said that he wishes Barcelona to sign three players from Manchester United, according to The Express.
The Catalan giants have been heavily linked with a move north of £120m for United’s rivals, Liverpool’s star, Philippe Coutinho. Messi has said he only wishes Barcelona to sign the three United players if Coutinho doesn’t end up arriving at the Camp Nou.
With players looking on their way out of Barcelona, such as Javier Mascherano, areas need to be covered, where Messi has seen United as a place to fill these gaps.
The Argentine star has said that he wishes his club to buy Daley Blind, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera from the Red Devils.
A factor that all of these players have in common is that they all of their contracts run out at the end of the current season, meaning they are now able to talk to foreign clubs on a pre-contract agreement.
Camp Nou hero Andres Iniesta is reportedly considering his future, and so Mata could fit into his position in Valverde’s side.
Herrera would provide competition to the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets, but if he were to leave, United’s central midfield would be very low on numbers.
Blind is seen as the ideal replacement for Javier Mascherano with the variety of positions he is able to play in, although Barcelona are reportedly looking at Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen as his replacement.
Messi has also said he would like Mesut Ozil and Leon Goretzka, whose contracts also run out come summer, but Ozil’s future is undecided while Goretzka is likely to join German giants Bayern Munich.
