Reading want to sign Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year old has been on loan with Leeds United this season, but has so far struggled to make an impact, making just a handful of appearances, predominately in the EFL Cup.

This is the second season in which Borthwick-Jackson has struggled out on loan, last season in which he was with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and now United want him to find more regular game time away from Elland Road.

Now former United defender and current Reading head coach Jaap Stam is willing to offer the versatile defender the chance to impress.

Stam wanted the England Under-20 international last summer, but Leeds were seen as the better option at the time.

Now the defender, who has 14 total appearances for United under his belt, is ready for a change. Stam will attempt to take him on loan for the second half of the season, with the prospect of turning the deal into a permanent switch.
