Man United seal deal for Matej Kovar
Manchester United have signed 17-year-old Czech goalkeeper Matej Kovar, the club have confirmed.
Kovar joins from FC Slovacko, having impressed on a week-long trial at United in November. He has signed a professional deal but is expected to link up with the U18s rather than the first team. The club’s official statement has described him as having ‘excellent potential’.
Kovar has been called up by the Czech U18 side, having two caps two his name since being first selected in November of last year.
The 17-year-old becomes United’s second incoming of the window, following star-signing Alexis Sanchez in joining the club. The Chilean forward joined from Arsenal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way.
United currently sit second in the Premier League, behind local rivals Man City who look to be running away with the title. The Red Devils will travel to Tottenham Hotspur tonight, with Spurs hoping to close in on the Champions League places.
