Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner feels that it is important that his players go and play with belief that they can come away with something when they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Terriers are hoping to do the double over Manchester United, having achieved a shock win earlier in the season. Wagner said;
I think it’s important that my players have belief this weekend. We are so excited about playing against United at Old Trafford. We will fight for every yard and try our best.
The Manchester United match at the at the John Smith’s Stadium was one of the examples where everything went in our favour. We have to show our desire and belief to get something out of the game tomorrow.
Wagner knows that his side will need to make it uncomfortable for United if they are to gain a positive result. He continued;
We’ve found ideas in the past that you can use to get something out of the games against the top six. The question is how uncomfortable can we make it for them?
The Town boss also stated that his side cannot afford to waste chances that they might get tomorrow afternoon;
It’s so important that you stay in the game, make it uncomfortable and use the first opportunity you have.
Why shouldn’t we be positive? At the beginning of the season everyone would’ve expected Huddersfield Town to be bottom of the table.
Now we are one of the teams fighting for survival. No-one likes defeats but we are positive because we are fighting, something no-one expected.
Wagner reiterated that his side cannot lose focus in such a big game but does expect his side to play with freedom;
We can take this game with freedom but at the end it’s been a usual working routine. You have to be focused on yourself and on your work.
