Italian giants AC Milan have targeted Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera as they look to offer the Spaniard a chance at first-team football, according to the Express.
Despite once being first choice for Jose Mourinho, following United acquisition of Nemanja Matic he has fallen down the pecking order in terms of selection.
AC Milan are willing to offer the 28-year-old a lifeline and hope to lure him to the San Siro with reports that they have been sending scouts to monitor the players progress.
Despite spending over £150 million last summer on a whole new batch of talent, they will be set to do it again this coming summer on a midfielder to join the likes of Lucas Biglia and Riccardo Montolivo.
Since completing a £28 million move from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United, Herrera has made 151 appearances, scoring 16 goals.
Continuing his interest from last year Mourinho is said to be going after Monaco’s £45 million man Fabinho as a possible replacement for the Spaniard.
Arturo Vidal is also on the radar of the Manchester United coach although a move for the Chilean will be in the region of £50 million.
