Manchester United have joined the race to sign Benfica wonderkid Andria Zivkovic, according to The Mirror.
The young winger is also believed to be a transfer target of United’s Premier League rivals, Arsenal, but José Mourinho will try and bring him up north away from his managerial rival, Arsene Wenger.
Zivkovic was very impressive at Partizan Belgrade, which got him a transfer to the Portuguese giants in 2016.
He has played 42 times for Benfica over the past 18 months. He has also won the U20 World Cup with Serbia in 2016.
Zivkovic has been essential to Benfica’s impressive season, currently placed second in Liga NOS, two points behind rivals FC Porto. He scored in his last game for the Encarnados, in a 3-1 win away at newly promoted Portimonense.
However, now at 21 and with a very bright future ahead of him, it may be sooner rather than later that Zivkovic is on the move from Lisbon to one of the top five European leagues.
As reported, Arsenal and Manchester United, who already have magnificent attacks, see this youngster as a bright star who has the potential to be a cover now, but rise to the first team in the future.
Perhaps in the summer, he will be seen not in the red of Benfica, but of Manchester United.
