Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince believes that Paul Pogba’s recent struggles are due to the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at the club.
Pogba began the season as an integral component in Jose Mourinho’s set-up, but his form has gone under the microscope in recent weeks after his form dipped.
Having been forced to drop the Frenchman for the 2-0 win over Huddersfield earlier this month, some have called on Mourinho to switch up his tactics to ensure the club get the best out of the £89million midfielder.
Ince, former captain of the Red Devils, has claimed that Sanchez’ January arrival is one factor in Pogba’s form dip. Writing in his Paddy Power column, Ince said;
He looks like a totally different player.
It’s probably due to the fact, that pre-Sanchez, he was the main man. He was the kingpin and the one everyone was talking about.
But the arrival of Sanchez has taken the shine off him. What I would say is, at United, you’re all main men. You should all perform like that, too.
Looking at the Newcastle game, you could see from his body language that he’s fed up. Whatever it is, it’s a problem that needs addressing.
