# Matic tips Lukaku for “big things” at Manchester United

Nemanja Matic has tipped Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku to achieve “big things” at the club.

The former Chelsea and Everton forward has scored 21 goals this season, and Matic believes that United fans still haven’t seen the best of the Belgian.

The 24-year old Belgium international signed for United last summer for an initial £75million from Everton, and has so far had a relatively respectable first season at Old Trafford.

Mostly, Lukaku has been criticised for supposedly failing to turn up against elite opposition. Despite not having scored against any of the Premier League’s top eight this season, Matic believes Lukaku has much to offer the Red Devils.

Talking to Sky Sports, [as cited by Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/lukaku-tipped-for-big-things-by-man-united-team-mate-matic/14midqsysxsb51pgzic369hsaa), Lukaku said;

> Romelu is a great striker.

> For a young player, it’s not an easy situation because everyone expects you to score in every game. It is not easy to deal with that expectation but as he’s shown already he’s doing well.

> Mentally he’s strong and I’m sure he will continue to score goals. He’s still young and can improve more and I’m sure he will do big things for Manchester United.

Another player who has shown signs but has failed to make a huge splash upon signing for the club is Alexis Sanchez, who has only managed one goal in six appearances since signing from Arsenal in January.

Matic, however, is delighted to have the Chilean at the club. He continued;

> Alexis is working really hard. We are happy to have him in the team because in these kind of games a player with that quality can decide the game.

> I’m sure he will be very important for us on Sunday and for the rest of the season. I am happy he is a team-mate.
