Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Juventus defender Alex Sandro as they eye a serious title challenge next season.
The Sunday Times reports that a deal to sign Alex Sandro is edging closer with the defender keen to leave the Old Lady this summer.
Sandro has been a long-term target for United, while Chelsea have also been known admirers in the past.
Juventus would require at least £50 million for a deal to be done this summer in a deal that would match the money Manchester City paid Monaco for Benjamin Mendy.
United have used Ashley Young as a makeshift left-back for large spells of this season, with Luke Shaw falling out of favour at Old Trafford.
Young has impressed down the left, but Mourinho will look to address the position over the summer.
Improving his defence is thought to be high on the list of priorities for Mourinho in a bid to bridge the gap between themselves and City.
