# United sign Diogo Dalot

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Diogo Dalot from Porto on a five-year-deal.

Dalot becomes United’s second summer signing after the club announced the £47million transfer of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk yesterday.

Dalot is believed to have cost United in the region of £19million.

The 19-year-old is a Portugal under-21 international and is comfortable playing in both the right-back and left-back positions.

He arrived in England at the weekend before having a medical with United on Tuesday and the club have now confirmed that he has singed a five-year-deal.

According to [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3518855/manchester-united-sign-diogo-dalot-from-porto-on-five-year-contract), Dalot is currently recovering from a knee injury but is expected to be fit in time to join the rest of the United squad on their pre-season tour of the US next month.

Dalot spoke to [MUTV](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/Diogo-Dalot-first-MUTV-interview-as-a-Manchester-United-player?t=y&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=link_post&utm_campaign=muwebsite&utm_content=dnewplayersigning) about his delight at joining the club:

United have reportedly fought off competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the youngster’s signature.
