De Gea has been continuously linked with moves away from the club with Real Madrid following the player, but manager Jose Mourinho has made it top of his priority to secure a deal for him.

Madrid’s interest in the Spanish star has been longstanding and talk about his future has been constant, hence why he sits at number six on the [Transfer Hound’s Hot-O-Meter](https://www.gambling.com/transfer-hound).

As a result, De Gea is set to overtake German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer as the highest earning goalkeeper in the world as he currently picks up €15 million each year.

Mourinho has been looking to tie De Gea down to a long-term deal for some time to help to provide him with some stability in this position and help him get United back amongst the best in Europe.
