## Eva Olid Named Manchester United Women’s New Head Coach

Eva Olid has been appointed head coach of Manchester United Women, the club announced this week, handing her a two-year deal to lead the WSL side. [United confirmed the appointment](https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMifkFVX3lxTFB1azJ6X2tBRnB0dXBxOGVESWV3UWY0S2ZpMmFMOXFWa1dOcFFZcWUzMl9CNHAyVjdNRXB6MDRCcms5YWlmbVFPal9mNVlpY2tpMTN4dGtYRDNCbXg1V1FjSWU3dGxTcDdLYkZOMjlhU1dFUV9yNmdUcXRiQ0pSUQ?oc=5) a matter of days after Marc Skinner left Old Trafford by mutual consent, and just weeks before the new Women’s Super League season kicks off.

## What Eva Olid inherits at Old Trafford

The move ends a short but keenly watched search for a successor after Skinner departed following five years in charge. Olid steps into a Red Devils dressing room built around captain Maya Le Tissier and a group of England internationals, and inherits a side chasing a return to the top of the WSL. The BBC reported the agreement runs for two years, giving the new boss time to stamp her identity on the team.

According to [The Guardian](https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMipwFBVV95cUxNR2JHSlJoTDRuTHc5QjVhcXdGUmFEb25XbHJvLXV4Q1ZmTjVXNW5iRS1RNXZiR2t5M0RMSzRzVDkyaVBoOVprYkVDVzY3RWZnZ2dIcFZPY3VFTkxKWjFHTV9XaXZkRWFGdUFoUWx1NGhZazdfckQyb0NuYnFPR2lxMkwwaWN6enRVdl9CeVZxdkNsLXJSS1Z3R3BFTTBEMThuMkxfZ3J3NA?oc=5), Olid described the chance to take the job as a “dream come true”, underlining the pull the United Women project still carries in the women’s game. Attention now turns to Olid’s first competitive test in the dugout, with the WSL campaign fast approaching and the appointment giving United a settled voice on the touchline before a ball is kicked.
