## Manchester United Ready £60m Move for Lewis Hall

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay around £60m to sign Lewis Hall, but the Red Devils have run into a stumbling block in their pursuit of the Newcastle United left-back. Manchester Evening News says United [have a £60m fee ready](https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMirAFBVV95cUxQb2oxNGJmaUJRdTFLZ2w3SGxlSHhscjFiaUVvLXlyNTRaNUo2R2RSMmxGTFB0bUFQbDNJdTNtUnpYSUhXclVpek1qNnBEMlZNWEtocFFSSm1pYkRCU1B1MW13d2F3SzhVRDVLRWJWclRTcXo4T0lJNy1OZDdNQ0kyMTNrR3ZSUTRvcDJEVnRuWnlwM2tsLVVuNmtoV0drVzNtbWF2TFluNjctbmdz0gGyAUFVX3lxTFA2VkFCREZlZXNLa0V6b0F3endnUlA4bHZSLWwtRlVUekRFT2s5bU92MDdCX0FhZkhNdFVPWEhHd1Bqb1pNNTJqQmRXdk5GclB5MTRQbkpINkxjLTQ0RUFpOFhQX0FxMkdvS011T081OG9sNVpXV1dlTE5FWWpHeW05a1JNZmJlejFYbmtvRE82NmxzeXdiVDdDdkE3aVJwSGx0cjV5TUl0MlJBd2JIb1A5dmc?oc=5) for the England Under-21 international, only to hit an issue in early talks.

## Why Lewis Hall appeals to Manchester United

The interest fits a clear need. Left-back has been a problem position for United, and the versatile Hall would offer Michael Carrick a long-term option down the flank. Newcastle, though, are said to be reluctant sellers, and their stance is what has complicated any deal for a player they rate highly.

Reports suggest United have contingencies if the move stalls, with talkSPORT claiming the club would [consider a World Cup star](https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMilwFBVV95cUxQWWpUMjZjUlpycU85TXd0QllYb0ZUQ0FNSTBOaFlVWnFnYk8zX0I5R0xVSEc0LWtScEZMb2pTVWYweFFMSmd5ZWdXN0hZYUZyLTNTX3NvTzRKbndJYXZVNnF4TnVHM2RueUFKb01Ra1RfV0UtM3I5anNHcGtxNXF0cFFWazBGbDAwQnZVa251VVFlV19zUjRF?oc=5) as an alternative should a £60m bid be rebuffed — a sign the Old Trafford recruitment team is weighing more than one name. As ever, nothing has been confirmed by either club. Fans can keep across every twist through our coverage of [United’s summer transfer business](https://readmanutd.com/category/transfers/).

For now, the ball sits with Newcastle. Whether United can break their resistance before the window shuts may decide if this Lewis Hall pursuit becomes a genuine deal or another summer near-miss.
