## Mason Mount Injury Scare in United’s PSG Draw

Mason Mount limped off after fewer than 20 minutes of Manchester United’s 1-1 friendly draw with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday, handing Michael Carrick a fresh injury worry just a fortnight before the season starts. The England midfielder appeared to hurt his foot and, after treatment on the touchline, was replaced by Tyler Fletcher.

According to [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/aug/08/mason-mount-injury-overshadows-manchester-uniteds-draw-with-psg), Mount had started the game and lasted under 20 minutes before being taken off, with the setback overshadowing an otherwise creditable United display against the European champions. The [Manchester Evening News](https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMimwFBVV95cUxPX2haZDhiTV9TMWZhU3c1cm4wQ1lESGZHNzhZNVRQcHFlWVVnVkJNME9obVR3WGJNY29ZR19KT282N0dweGpvUlZkQ0dJR0ZLaFRoWElab29vS2t6WW54dG8yTjFFQVlmazRhNHk3b0lrN0M1cjFsSXlLVHgyaHpmM0VhOVpfMENURWVQUmtmZWJCbnZBTUdKa3FHSdIBoAFBVV95cUxObzFLVFlhNmZiWmx4VkFlemVwb0ZqNEFFVVY4OFI1Z29GU293WmFXTnZjNEJybkJXUmFQQzg2X2RidTBQQ1FqUlZWak91UWFfMGZrUWhWT0JIeDE0Y29Sdm9hd1dOMVNPWU1FYzgycFlCQjlveV8xXzhhLWlNU3ZzVXhIZlY2bFppT1diTGRZTm5yOHQxUTU5dkt5Z3F1VTVC?oc=5) reported the midfielder himself moved to play down the scare afterwards, easing some of the immediate concern around Old Trafford.

## Mason Mount’s Injury History

The timing is unwelcome. Since joining from Chelsea in 2023, Mount has been repeatedly hampered by fitness problems, restricted to a modest run of league appearances across his first three seasons at the club, many of them from the bench. A settled, injury-free spell has so far eluded the 27-year-old at Old Trafford.

Carrick will hope the problem is minor. With United’s midfield rebuilt this summer and a Premier League opener away at Hull City on 22 August fast approaching, keeping his options fit is a priority.
