# Man Utd left with major Jhon Lucumi decision after €25m transfer twist

**Manchester United-linked defender Jhon Lucumí has agreed personal terms with Juventus as Bologna continue to demand around €25million for the Colombia international.**

United have been monitoring Lucumí as Michael Carrick considers adding another centre-back before the transfer window closes.

The latest development, however, has moved Juventus ahead in the race. [Football Italia reports that Lucumí has agreed in principle to a five-year contract with the Serie A giants](https://football-italia.net/juventus-agree-personal-terms-with-lucumi/), worth €2.5m per season plus bonuses.

Bologna and Juventus still need to agree a transfer fee.

## Jhon Lucumí Manchester United interest faces Juventus challenge

Bologna are understood to value Lucumí at a minimum of €25m after his €28m release clause expired in July.

Juventus have already seen an opening €17m offer rejected and are preparing another approach, potentially involving defender Juan Cabal as part of the deal.

United have not reached that stage.

Reports in Italy have previously claimed that Carrick’s side made exploratory moves over Lucumí, while [FourFourTwo reported that Manchester United could be prepared to meet Bologna’s asking price](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/transfer/manchester-united-eyeing-another-bargain-move-with-gbp21m-stars-sale-inevitable-report).

That leaves United with a decision if their interest becomes more serious.

Lucumí has entered the final year of his Bologna contract, increasing the prospect of a departure this summer rather than the Italian club risking losing him for nothing next year.

Bologna chief executive Claudio Fenucci has also acknowledged that the club previously promised Lucumí they would consider allowing him to leave if an acceptable offer arrived.

United continue to reshape Carrick’s squad elsewhere. Lucumí would offer an experienced left-footed option at centre-back and arrives with significant Serie A and international experience.

But if United want to turn their interest into a transfer, the window to act may be narrowing.

Juventus have already secured the player’s agreement.

The remaining question is whether they can now satisfy Bologna.
