# Club Brugge boss responds to Manchester United interest in Joaquin Seys

**Manchester United interest in Joaquin Seys is solid after Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko addressed speculation linking the young full-back with a move to Old Trafford.**

Manchester United are searching for a new left-back after their pursuit of Newcastle’s Lewis Hall appears to have stalled. Newcastle have been reluctant to let another key player leave, leaving United to consider alternative targets.

Joaquin Seys has now emerged as one of those options, although [Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/tag/manchester-united/) have not yet opened talks with Club Brugge.

## Leko admits big offer could change Joaquin Seys situation

Club Brugge are believed to have no desire to sell Seys this summer. [Previous reports have suggested](https://sportwitness.co.uk/aston-villa-and-newcastle-among-in-the-mix-for-e35m-club-brugge-signing/) that it would take at least €35 million for the Belgian club to even consider a deal.

Leko was asked about the growing speculation and admitted he is pleased to see his players attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“I’m proud that my guys are being linked to those clubs,” [the Club Brugge boss said](https://sportwitness.co.uk/not-easy-to-say-no-manager-proud-of-manchester-united-links-not-ruling-out-players-sale/).

“We chat about it every now and then. How much of those rumours is true? I don’t know.”

The manager also insisted that Seys and fellow Brugge player Nicolo Tresoldi have handled the speculation well. Neither, according to Leko, has allowed the transfer talk to affect their performances.

“They remain consummate professionals and are happy here,” he added.

That will be encouraging for Club Brugge, particularly with the transfer window moving towards its conclusion.

However, Leko accepts there is a point at which it becomes difficult for a club to keep a player against his or their own interests.

“If there’s a lot of money on the table, it’s obviously not easy to say no,” he admitted.

## United could explore Seys as Lewis Hall alternative

Seys’ name has become more relevant for United because of the situation involving Hall.

The Newcastle defender was reportedly the club’s preferred target at left-back, but Newcastle’s stance has made an agreement increasingly difficult. United are now looking at other possibilities, with Seys one of the players attracting interest.

There has been no contact between United and Club Brugge yet, meaning any potential transfer is still at an early stage.

The Belgian side also appears determined to hold on to Seys for now

For United, Seys represents another option as they continue their search for a left-back. The 21-year-old is clearly attracting attention, but with no approach made yet and Brugge reluctant to sell, there is still a long way to go before a move to Old Trafford becomes realistic.
