# Man Utd Champions League draw: Who will United face?

**[Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/2026/08/01/how-to-watch-manchester-united-athletico-madrid/) are back in the [Champions League](https://readmanutd.com/tag/champions-league/) and will find out their eight league-phase opponents on Thursday.**

The draw will take place in Monaco at 5pm BST on Thursday, 27 August, [confirmed by Manchester United.](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/when-is-the-champions-league-draw-2026-27-league-phase)

## How will the draw work?

Manchester United are in Pot 2. They will be drawn against eight different clubs, with two teams coming from each of the four pots.

There will be four home games and four away games. United will face one club at home and one away from each pot. United can’t be drawn against another English club in this stage, meaning Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester City are all off the table.

The big attraction for [Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/tag/manchester-united/) fans is Pot 1. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain are all possible opponents.

That means United will definitely get two Pot 1 teams, so there will be no shortage of big European nights.

From their own pot, United could meet Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting CP, Porto, Club Brugge, Real Betis or PSV Eindhoven.

The other two pots are still not finalised, but Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Galatasaray, Feyenoord, Lille, Stuttgart, Como and Lens are among the possible opponents.

Carrick’s side will have eight first round games to qualify for the knockout rounds, with the first fixtures set to give [Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/tag/manchester-united/) their first real taste of Champions League football under their new manager after a considerable absence.
