# Joshua Zirkzee could leave Manchester United soon

Joshua Zirkzee is expecting to leave Manchester United before the September 1 deadline, with Juventus emerging as a possible destination for the striker.**

The 25-year-old has been linked with an exit for much of the summer. Napoli, Roma and Aston Villa have all been mentioned as potential options, but a return to Italy could now be the most realistic route.

Zirkzee joined [Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/tag/manchester-united/) from Bologna in a £36.5 million deal two years ago. Since then, he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

## Juventus move depends on Jonathan David

[Fabrizio Romano](https://youtube.com/@fabrizioromanoyt?si=8deq9AErZieHOqQB) has explained that Juventus could make their move for Zirkzee if they first manage to move on Jonathan David.

Atletico Madrid’s interest in the Canadian striker could help set that process in motion. If David leaves Turin, Juventus would have room to pursue Zirkzee before the window closes.

[Corriere dello Sport](https://www.pressreader.com/italy/corriere-dello-sport/20260826/page/2) have reported that Zirkzee is Juventus’ priority target, with communication already taking place between the Italian club and United.

A loan is reportedly an option, although United would prefer any temporary deal to include a mandatory purchase clause.

Zirkzee’s position at Old Trafford has become increasingly difficult. He made only five starts in all competitions last season and remained out of favour despite Carrick coming in.

[Michael Carrick](https://readmanutd.com/tag/michael-carrick/) also left him unused in United’s opening-day defeat to [Hull City](https://readmanutd.com/2026/08/22/man-utd-confirmed-lineup-hull-city-team-news/). Matheus Cunha started through the middle before Benjamin Sesko was introduced after the break.

The club have already completed their midfield rebuild with Carlos Baleba and are also working on a new left-back, with personal terms reportedly agreed with Jorge Salinas.

Zirkzee has scored nine goals in 75 appearances for United. With the deadline approaching, his next move could depend on what happens with Jonathan David.
