Marcus Rashford also starts again after impressing on his return to Carrick’s Premier League XI, while Matheus Cunha continues through the middle ahead of Benjamin Sesko.

## Confirmed Man Utd XI vs Everton

**Manchester United:** Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Tielemans; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha.

**Substitutes:** Darlow, Heaven, Mazraoui, Yoro, Andrey Santos, Dorgu, Mount, Sesko, Zirkzee.

The shape is expected to remain the 4-2-3-1 Carrick used against Ipswich, with Bruno Fernandes operating behind Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo and Rashford attacking from the wide areas.

[ReadManUtd correctly predicted that Carrick could stick with the same XI following the Ipswich victory](https://readmanutd.com/2026/09/05/manchester-united-predicted-xi-everton/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), and the manager has resisted the temptation to rotate after United’s best attacking performance of the season.

## Mainoo and Rashford keep their places

Mainoo retaining his position is one of the most notable selections.

The midfielder impressed alongside Tielemans last weekend and gets another opportunity while summer signing Carlos Baleba remains unavailable through injury.

Rashford also starts for the second successive league game after returning to the side against Ipswich.

His inclusion means Sesko must again settle for a place among the substitutes, with Cunha trusted to lead the attack.

Carrick has also received a boost from **Mason Mount’s return to the matchday squad**, with the midfielder named on the bench following his recent fitness issue.

[United’s pre-match team news had left Mount facing a late fitness check](https://readmanutd.com/2026/09/05/everton-vs-manchester-united-preview-team-news-lineups/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), but he is available if Carrick needs to change the midfield or attacking shape during the second half.

## Fernandes targets another big performance

Fernandes captains United after his sensational display against Ipswich.

The Portugal international scored three times and registered an assist last weekend and has another individual milestone within reach this afternoon.

Fernandes has recorded **11 Premier League goal involvements against Everton**, meaning one more would move him clear of David Beckham and Ryan Giggs for the most by a United player against the Toffees.

Everton remain unbeaten after their opening two league matches, so Carrick has chosen continuity as United pursue their first away victory of the campaign.

Kick-off at Hill Dickinson Stadium is at **2pm BST**.
