# Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Man City: Carrick set to Keep Sesko

**Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Manchester City at Old Trafford, and Michael Carrick could stick with much of the side that impressed against Sabah.**

Manchester City arrive at Old Trafford for the much-awaited first [Manchester derby](https://readmanutd.com/2026/09/11/opta-supercomputer-manchester-derby-winner/) for Enzo Maresca, sitting top of the [Premier League](https://readmanutd.com/tag/premier-league/) with a perfect nine points from their opening three matches. Manchester United, meanwhile, have four points from their first three league games after losing to Hull City, beating Ipswich Town and then conceding a late equaliser against Everton.

The biggest selection decision comes in attack, with [Benjamin Sesko](https://readmanutd.com/squad/benjamin-sesko/) and [Matheus Cunha](https://readmanutd.com/squad/matheus-cunha/) both scoring against Sabah. [Marcus Rashford](https://readmanutd.com/squad/marcus-rashford/) could be the player to make way as [Michael Carrick](https://readmanutd.com/tag/michael-carrick/) looks to keep both summer arrivals involved.

**Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Tielemans, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Cunha; Sesko**

[Luke Shaw](https://readmanutd.com/squad/luke-shaw/) should return after missing the [Champions League](https://readmanutd.com/tag/champions-league/) win. Carrick confirmed his absence against Sabah was related to managing the cramp he suffered at Everton rather than a fresh injury. The game could also mark Shaw’s 300th Premier League appearance.

[Diogo Dalot](https://readmanutd.com/squad/diogo-dalot/), [Harry Maguire](https://readmanutd.com/squad/harry-maguire/) and [Lisandro Martinez](https://readmanutd.com/tag/lisandro-martinez/) are expected to retain their places in defence.

[Youri Tielemans](https://readmanutd.com/squad/youri-tielemans/) and [Kobbie Mainoo](https://readmanutd.com/squad/kobbie-mainoo/) have started to build an understanding in midfield, and Carrick is likely to keep that pairing together for the derby.

Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes should also keep their places, while Cunha could operate behind Sesko who made his first start against Sabah and scored a goal.

Carlos Baleba, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte, Tom Heaton and Amad Diallo remain unavailable through injury.
