# Man Utd face fresh JJ Gabriel transfer worry as Bayern Munich hold new talks

**Manchester United are facing fresh uncertainty over JJ Gabriel’s future after Bayern Munich held further talks with the teenager’s camp over a potential move.**

The 16-year-old forward remains one of the most highly rated young prospects in United’s academy, but his long-term future at Old Trafford is still unresolved. Despite Bayern’s renewed interest, the German giants have not made an offer to Gabriel, with the club yet to receive a commitment from the player, [as revealed by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany](https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/2108808251101921633).

That leaves the door open for other European heavyweights to move ahead in the race for his signature.

## **Real Madrid and Barcelona lead JJ Gabriel race**

There is a growing feeling that Gabriel favours a move to Spain, with [Real Madrid and Barcelona currently considered the frontrunners](https://readmanutd.com/2026/09/16/real-madrid-barcelona-jj-gabriel-manchester-united-2/).

Both clubs have been linked with the forward as uncertainty continues over his next step. Bayern remain interested, but without a clear indication that Gabriel wants to join them, the Bundesliga side has yet to make a formal offer. Also, Gabriel’s massive salary demands have made the negotiations difficult with any club.

A move in January is being planned, although it depends on Gabriel securing a European passport that would make the transfer possible.

A Cypriot passport is currently being pursued. However, alternative options are also being explored in case that route does not work out.

## **Manchester United still hope to keep Gabriel**

[Manchester United](https://readmanutd.com/tag/manchester-united/) are keen to retain [JJ Gabriel](https://readmanutd.com/tag/jj-gabriel/) and have not given up on convincing the teenager to stay.

His situation has become a significant concern for the academy, particularly given the level of interest from abroad. Losing a player with Gabriel’s potential would be a major setback, while a January departure could bring the uncertainty surrounding his future to an end.

The situation remains open as [Manchester United have already offered Gabriel a scholarship](https://readmanutd.com/2026/10/09/jj-gabriel-manchester-united-scholarship/) as well, which he is expected to decline.

Bayern’s latest talks show that interest in Gabriel has not faded since their last enquiry with Gabriel’s camp. But Real Madrid and Barcelona appear better placed as the teenager’s preference is to move to Spain.
