Daley Blind delighted with late equaliser

Daley Blind delighted with late equaliser

Here’s what Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal had to say, in the aftermath of his team’s tough draw against  West Ham:

Louis you left it very very late, your thoughts on team performance and the result?

” I think we played very badly in the first half and we showed a lot of spirit in the 2nd half, especially after the goal. We gave that goal away, and then we played football, but you have to do it from the first minute. But I have to say what a spirit my team showed after the West Ham goal, and I thank my players for that.

You said you played badly, what was wrong, what were you not doing right?

When we had the ball we didn’t play the ball on the floor, also, when we lost the ball, then we have to win the first and the second balls much better than we did in the first half, because they are playing long balls, we know that in advance.

” I think with Fellaini you need to change the playing style and we have done that, and because of Fellaini we’ve created a lot of chances, because we had three open chances in front of their goalkeeper, and normally we could win this game, in spite of the bad first half. But, I’m pleased with a draw (in the end).”

Here’s what Daley Blind had to say after his rampant equaliser late on in the game

Daley Blind:

“It was a reward for not giving up (a late equaliser) but we want more. First half was really a battle, we can’t play how we want, we can’t play possession.”

“In the second half, I think we started well and then the early goal came and after that we have to fight again for the good moments and I think we picked it up well, we are capable of fighting but we are not happy with a draw.”

“Especially in the first half, there have been a lot of long balls, but second half we did it better, won some second balls and created some danger from that, but it was a real battle in the midfield and I think we could’ve done more after (turnover of possession)”
