Benjamin Sesko admitted Manchester United could have managed the closing stages better after Everton snatched a 2-2 draw with a late equaliser at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Benjamin Sesko came off the bench and put United ahead in the 88th minute, making it look like his goal had won the game. Ainsley Maitland-Niles then struck deep into stoppage time to leave United with only a point.
Benjamin Sesko admits United can improve
The striker felt United had handled most of the game well but accepted that things became more difficult towards the end.
“We can always improve but I think we were still managing the match as good as we could. In the end we were slipping away a little bit but it happens. We’re here to learn and try to get better,” Sesko said after the match.
Everton pushed hard after falling behind again, and Benjamin Sesko admitted the hosts made life uncomfortable in the final minutes.
“They were really intense, especially the last minutes. We were trying to give everything, block every shot. It was a great goal, by the way, going into the top corner. We have to accept it and react in the next match.”
Sesko’s goal will still be an encouraging moment personally. He had started the game on the bench, but made an immediate impact when called upon.
The Slovenia international was keen to stress that competition for places remains healthy within the squad.
“We have a lot of good players, a lot of quality which is really important for this club. In the end it’s important that each one of us does everything for the team to try to win games. It’s why we are here.”
