Disappointment turned to anger for the United faithful as they prepare to face a downcast Saturday evening and van Gaal’s attempts to enlighten the support, unable to comment on whether his side deserved more from the encounter don’t go hand-in-hand.
He simply stated the obvious. ‘Of course you can say we dominated the game but the only thing we could have done more was score more out of the chances we created.’ I wonder if he knows this is post-match comments and not commentary as it happened?
The gaffer went on to say: ‘Today we were the unlucky team. I think we created enough chances. We were the dominant side in both halves.’ Let’s hope this use of snappy sentences can only represent his anger which will be enforced on the players for an improved performance next time round.
It was short and sweet, hopefully, he’s in a rush to send the team bus to the training ground straight away. He finished up by for once giving credit to his opponents! ‘Conceding so quickly after opening the scoring was important. It was a throw in for Swansea and we should have been more organised. But it was a good goal by Swansea.’ Is he feeling ok?
And if today – as claimed – we simply ‘forgot to score’ then I think Van Persie and co need to be in a different profession…
