Manchester United manger Louis Van Gaal will meet with his chief executive Ed Woodward this week with many topics to discuss, one topic sure to be brought up is the Falcao dilemma. Now, many fans won’t see this as a dilemma but it’s not as cut and dry as people think.
Fans of United have seemingly ran out of patience with the Colombian, which I believe might be a bit premature. I feel the Falcao situation was impossible from the start because fans were so jubilant about the prospect of arguably the world’s best number 9 in recent years that they totally dismissed the fact that the striker had a horrible knee ligament injury and missed almost a full season. This from the start, put a lot of pressure on Falcao to be the player he was.
Many believe that time has run out for Falcao due to the apparent lack of faith shown by the manager in recent weeks and according to the Manchester Evening News, Falcao will return to Monaco and Manchester United will not take up the opportunity to buy the Colombian. The fee reported is believed to be north of 35 million pounds and that is a huge ask for a player who admittedly has failed his audition statistics wise and being dropped to the U21s last week seems to be the final nail in the coffin for his Manchester United career.
In my opinion as a Manchester United fan, I would love to see Falcao sign permanently for the club because I believe that given the fact he has been relatively injury free this season, he can push himself in pre-season and there is no reason he can’t become the player he once was. All of this boils down to whether or not the striker fits Louis van Gaal’s plan for the team going forward, which is a mystery to fans and media alike.
